All I can say is WOW. This is coming from a truly picky eater. My family chose to come here whilst on vacation and I think we most definitely will return. There was no wait, and we were immediately sat and greeted by a wonderful server (I believe his name was TJ). He was extremely knowledgable about the wines and the menu. I ended up ordering the spaghetti and calamari while the others in my party ordered the lobster ravioli and some other pasta dish I can't quite remember. While we were waiting for our food we were served bread, beans, and a cucumber tomato salad (all included). I found the spices on the salad to be excellent. All super delicious. Then our food arrived in a very timely manner. YUM. The calamari in my dish was cooked to perfection and blended perfectly with the sauce. Everyone else in my party was raving about how amazing their dishes were. Food is terrific, service was quick and polite, and atmosphere was nice. Definitely give this place a try!

Terrific food, great atmosphere. Kids really enjoyed the food as well (especially the family style pasta fagioli and spaghetti that comes with all the meals). We all left stuffed and with enough leftovers to have for lunch the next day.

You will never leave hear hungry. Great staff and food. Been going here for 10 years and each time we are down in Myrtle Beach we have to go here. Food is great. Our family loves the lobster raviolis, linguini and clams, and the veal piccata.

Great food. Generous portions- a meal itself arrives before the meal you order comes out. Beans and greens, tomato cucumber salad and a family style dish of pasta are all served BEFORE your entree. We come from a predominantly Italian area with great Italian food to be had on every corner. This place would be right at home there!!!!

This place will be on my radar when I visit North Myrtle Beach. So good and relaxing. Make reservations or shop Barefoot Landing while you wait for a table. Starting out with beans and greens is terrific and their lasagna is made to perfection. My wife had Chicken Francaise and it was amazing! We shared entrees and that made it even more delightful. Our kids, 6 & 9, could have split the chicken finger meal due to the bread and angel hair pasta with marinara sauce provided. This is as good as the other well known Italian places nearby and a better experience due to location and not being required to have a reservation during the busy months.

After walking around Barefoot Landing for a few hours my husband decided he wanted Italian... He wanted to go back to Broadway at the Beach but I convinced him to try Umberto's.... Definitely a good idea! The restaurant is clean, has a great atmosphere, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is great. I had a martini which was good and strong, and the eggplant parm which I really enjoyed. My husband had the lasagna and loved it, the meat sauce is great. The meal came with bread, salad, a bean soup, and angel hair pasta w/ marinara sauce. Overall a great experience, we will be back the next time we are in town. P.s They have great coffee too!!

Lil' bingo! Our 'go to place' when visiting North Myrtle Beach. The location is perfect with plenty of shopping surrounding the restaurant. The food is excellent. The grilled garlic really is a nice touch (I do it at home) - one of my favorite places for quality veal chop! Consistently near perfect, no knife needed ;-) Fresh homemade cannoli and be sure to get the limoncello after dinner. My family loves this place and none has ever had an appetizer, entree, or dessert we didn't like. Decent selection of fairly priced wines. Service is professional & experienced.

Plan on having leftovers for lunch. No one leaves Umberto's still hungry. They bring bread, then salad, then pasta fagioli.......and hopefully you are still hungry for you meal. Everything was very tastey. The restaurant is comfortable inside but extremely loud. Our server was good and fast but not very personable. Over all we all loved the food and will for sure be back when in town next.

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I expected big things from this place. Overall, I was unimpressed. The food was average. My chicken parm was identical to that served at Macaroni Grill. It was good, but not worth the higher price. The salad was different having only contained tomatoes and cucumbers. I was not a fan. I like green leafy salads. My wife's meal was also good, but an equally pleasing meal could be had at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill for far less money. Our service was great, and food was prompt considering their dinning style. This is not a bad place to eat, but if you have a family of 4, you'll get the same quality meal at a large Italian chain for about 30% less than the cost of Umberto's. One complaint, we sat on the patio and the plastic garden chairs were horrible cheap and flimsey.

If you want a place where the food courses never stop this is a great place to go. They start you out with salad and then move on to soup and by this time your already full but no way Jose, there's more. They take your order and every meal gets pasta on the side! So once again here is a great place to go for an almost all-you-can eat experience.

Great Italian food. I really enjoyed the eggplant parm. My buddies liked the veal and the chicken parm. Portion sizes were big. The service though was mediocre. Waiter could have been more attentive. Overall, I'd come back here because the food was that good.

Please go hungry, They start you out family style and then your meal comes. The pork chops are huge and very good. Every time I get to the beach (Barefoot Landing location) it is on my list. Tables and chairs are like plastic patio style, but the food makes up for it.

"REAL" Italian food & lot's of it! The only thing that I could find lacking was that the bread could have been better. This place is busy and noisy and you need to get there early or you will wait in line. Joe

Great place, tucked away on Barefoot Landing. It would be easy to miss but if you are in town for vacation or just looking for a very good Italian meal...this is your place. They serve the first few courses family style which are pretty good...I agree with Lyn B. if you want to eat your entree, beware of all the food they bring ahead of time OR plan on splitting an entree (if your on vacation...eat till it hurts). They did great with the kids and they did a good job with a few larger groups we saw. I believe, not sure, you can get a reservation ahead of time to make sure you have a table (again, not sure). Worth it, I'll be back whether on vacation or business.

My family and I go here at least once every single year, and it is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the southeast. Lots of courses - bread, a tomato/peppers/onions italian salad, pasta e fagioli, angel hair pasta, and then your entree. The porkchops are unreal, and sometimes I just get more angel hair as my meal. In the summer, they often have lobster ravioli as a special, which is incredible. I love this place; would recommend a reservation. Great, fun, loud atmosphere.

Yelp won't check you in at the other listing so here I am. "Barefoot Lndg" doesn't work as a location, y'all, sorry. We ate here tonight after years upon years of walking by it. Good call. We've eaten at the Little River Umberto's several times and it turns out this place is owned by the guy who used to own that one. Pittsburghers. Go figure. What that means is that you get the same mega-bread (really good bread), "beans & greens" and delicious tomato and cucumber salad before you even get to your entree. I had no room for my chicken piccatta, which was quite good. It will be my lunch tomorrow. House Chianti was lovely and charmingly served in an unmarked Goodfellas-style bottle. I also loved that this place is at Barefoot Landing, just because. Nice Italian, NMB. Does my heart good.

If your at Barefoot Landing around dinner time and your in the mood for Italian this place will do. It's a pretty average place, the food was good, not great. Although I ordered the veal Marsala and it wasn't really veal, it was pork, I've had veal before and this wasn't veal. The pasta sauce was good and pasta was cooked well, it really was all just about your average Italian. It would be nice though, to eat out on something other than white plastic patio furniture. If we were on a patio maybe, but we're inside, come on. So all in all it's a decent place to stop in at for a bite in-between shops. Just don't expect to be blown away.

Best Italian food I've had in years. Family style dinner was awesome. The food and the wait staff are fantastic! Try the eggplant, or veal!

One word of advice - do not eat all the stuff they bring BEFORE your entree. We went slow and brought three boxes of food home for lunch. They bring a loaf of bread and their beans and greens first...white beans, pasta and greens that are very tasty. Next comes tomatoes and cukes in vinegrette ...equally tasty. Lastly, bowl of spaghetti with a spicy marinara sauce. It was good too. All three are family style. The entrees came with a perfect portion size and a side of roasted potatoes. I think it is a great value. We had a bottle of house red ($20). The bill was $65. I would go back.

We had a wonderful dinner at Umberto's last night. We were in town for just one night and decided to find a restaurant with good reviews on Yelp. The 3 courses before the entree were an amazing surprise! The greens and beans, cucumber & tomato salad and pasta were so delicious. Even our 17 month old son loved them! The entrees were great as well and perfectly sized, I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the zuppa de mare. Our server Scott, who turned out to be from the same area of PA I am from, was very friendly and knowledgable. I would highly recommend Umberto's to anyone in the Myrtle Beach area looking for a great dinner atmosphere and amazing Italian food.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
